Trauma, stress, depression and anxiety counselling in Somerset West, Helderberg.
I have an Honour’s degree in Psychology through the University of South Africa (UNISA), am registered with the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors and have actively been involved in counselling for 15 years, working at various NGO’s, Hospice and the Department of Health. I began my career as a Radiographer, and have worked extensively in this role in hospitals and private practices across South Africa and Namibia. My work as a Radiographer has provided me with valuable insight into the medical field and an understanding of health and wellness issues.
I provide individual counselling in Somerset West to support clients to manage psychological distress, develop coping skills, and empower and educate where possible. I believe that individuals possess inner resources to resolve their difficulties themselves, and I therefore consider my role as counsellor is to facilitate this process.
Having worked within the medical discipline, I have a particular interest in medical and health-related concerns including cardiac disease, cancer and diabetes.
In addition, I have a special interest in the following areas:
- Pre- and post-operative counselling
- Bereavement and loss including miscarriage
- Self-esteem issues
- Anxiety and stress
- Coping skills
